At 2:30 am a flock of 30-50 swans (probably Tundra) descended on Wyoga Lake in Stow, Summit County. They were so noisy they woke me up and continued to make a racket for the next hour before I fell asleep again. In the morning I checked out the lake and there were 3 left at the far reaches of the lake and I couldn’t get a positive ID because of the distance. Is the nighttime movement and racket common with Swans? There were also 3 Buffleheads and 5 Ruddys still there in the morning. Nine years ago I had my first encounter with Swans flying in at night when I was shoveling snow from the driveway of my new house for the first time. It was strange that it happened again after a first snow of the year.
