Open Water: I have been going to parts of the Cuyahoga River in NE Ohio to look for waterfowl. I have found some mergansers and goldeneye. I was wondering if anyone else found any open water in other locations. A lot of the Chagrin River is frozen over. (I thought this might give people some more winter birding spots to visit.) From what I understand, the Lake Erie coastline is pretty much frozen over. I heard on the news/weather that over 90% of the Great Lakes is frozen over right now. Snowy Owl: I found this link on the ABA Blog. I wondered where the snowy owls went. There were a lot of reports last December. Not as many in January and February. Here is where one of them has been: http://www.projectsnowstorm.org/posts/snowies-ice/ General Birding Question: Does anyone here wear white or white camo when they go out birding in the winter? I was wondering if it made a difference. I am guessing that it does. I have a dark green jacket. I think my movements are easily seen by birds, especially the ones that are more sensitive to people like some of the waterfowl I see on the river.
