I stopped by this downtown Columbus metropark this morning and was greeting with decent numbers of migrants. A modest late fallout apparently occurred due to the weather last night, and the clear morning made it all the more enjoyable. Included among the tally were: Great Egret - 1 was still in the bay above the Greenlawn dam Green-winged Teal - a small group of 4 were feeding in the same bay Accipiters - had both Sharp-shinned and Cooper's near the Grange Center Killdeer - probably 50+ scattered between the river mudflat and the grassy fields Rough-winged Swallow - 1 was foraging over the wetlands north of the Grange Center Warblers - lots of Yellow-rumped, but also had 5 Palms, plus a Nashville & a Tennessee Indigo Bunting - one molting male was just west of the Grange Center Sparrows - LOADs of Song Sparrows, but also had White-throated, Swamps, and Lincolns Blackbirds - several early small flocks of Redwings headed south. Also had Grackles & Cowbirds Pine Siskin - 1 was a flyover near the Grange Center feeders, so it might be hanging around there. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
