I walked along the bikepaths of this south Columbus park during this rainy morning. Despite the weather, there wasn't a great fallout, but migrants could still be found with some persistent searching. I checked at 2 areas in 3-Creeks: Cruiser park & the Groveport bikepath aa well as the Confluence area, and also stopped at Blacklick Park in nearby Groveport. Notables included: Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1 was calling in the rain at Groveport's Blacklick Park. Pileated Woodpeckers - singles were at both locations at 3-Creeks Flycatchers - Pewees, Acadians, and GreatCresteds were at both locations, while the bikepath had Willow Flycatchers, and Confluence had an Alder calling near the powerline right-of-way, a reliable spot for them. Vireos - only Warblings & Red-eyed here, but they were common. A Yellow-throated was at Confluence, while a White-eyed was at Blacklick Park Thrushes - Swainson's were widespread, but never saw more than 4 at any single site; Wood Thrushes were also at all locations. Mimids - Catbirds were abundant at both spots, but the only Thrasher was at Blacklick Park in Groveport Warblers - Redstarts were the most common, if you can call 8 in 2 hours common. Next in abundance were Magnolias, Yellows, Yellow-throateds, and Common Yellowthroats. I also found Parulas, Nashville, Tennessee, Black-thr.Green, Blackburnians, Chesnut-sided, Blackpoll, Ovenbirds, N.Waterthrush, Canada (1 at Confluence), and Mourning (1 singing along the Groveport bikepath). Buntings,Grosbeaks - Indigo Buntings and Rose-br.Grosbeaks were common at both locations in 3-Creeks Orioles - Baltimores were along the creeks at both locations, while an Orchard was singing at Cruiser Pond. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
