Calliope is still present. His activities today were active and vibrant as he scavenged for insects among the Golden Raspberry and Purple Coneflower plants. There were lots of flying insects to be seen and he was taking advantage of their abundancy. Throughout the day he was feeding again at both feeders, hovering more when feeding as compared to the prior days last week when the temperatures were frigid. Finally, as he has displayed before, he had no hesitation in defending his territory today against the Chickadees, Golden Finches and others. I did observe his climbing, hovering and diving display at various times this afternoon as well. I have posted video and other pictures on the Delaware Co.-Ohio Calliope Hummingbird FB page. ______________________________________________________________________ Ohio-birds mailing list, a service of the Ohio Ornithological Society.
