Late this morning while visiting the new pier out into Lake Erie at Painesville Township Park (it's impressive), friends and I watch a mature bald eagle catch a fish (effortlessly) just off the end of the pier.  Then instead of flying to the tree line to eat it, it flew east along the lake until a very dark immature eagle flew out from the shore.  Once the immature was close to the adult, the adult dropped the fish and the immature dropped down and snatched it up.  Teaching the first year bird to fish??  Sure looked like it.
There were also at least half a dozen horned grebes on the water and perhaps a thousand gulls (too far east to identify) sitting on the water or spiraling in the air.
