These 2 MetroParks south of Columbus had lots of activity this morning for mid-July.  At Walnut Woods, I birded the bikepath around the Buckeye Area and nearby Cruiser Pond, while at Slate Run, I visited the wetlands, the ravine trails (5-Oaks & Maple Trails), and Buzzardroost Lake.  Water levels at the wetland were dropping, and even attracted some shorebirds, but no egrets oddly.  Notables included:

Shorebirds - Slate Run wetlands had 12 Killdeer, 1 Spotted Sandpiper, 2 Solitary Sandpipers, and 3 Least Sandpipers

Cuckoos - Yellow-bills were calling at both parks
Flycatchers - the Slate Run ravines had a startling 10 Pewees & 14 Acadians, while the wetland had 8 Willow flycatchers calling.  E.Kingbirds were at Cruiser Pond and the wetlands.

Swallows - Cruiser Pond had a blitz of gathering swallows, with fiar numbers of Banks, Barns, Rough-wings and Trees, perhaps 100-120 in all.  Purple Martins were common at both Walnut Woods and Slate Run; the wetlands at the latter had 20+.

Vireos - Warblings were at Walnut woods, Cruiser Pond, and the Slate Run wetlands, while Red-eyed were abundant along the ravine trails (18-20).  2 Yellow-thr. were also in the ravines

Thrushes - Wood Thrushes were widespread, with 11 in the ravines the high
Mimids - Catbirds were everywhere, and the wetlands also had 2 Brown Thrashers
Warblers - Walnut Woods had a singing Black&White and many Common Yellowthroats, while the Slate Run Wetlands had Yellows, Yellow-throated, and 12+ Common Yellowthroats.  The ravines had 3 Hooded & 1 Kentucky, along with a few more Yellowthroats

Tanagers - the ravines had 3 singing Scarlet Tanagers, a good number here
Chats - 2 Yellow-br.Chats were calling at the Slate Run wetlands
Orioles - an Orchard Oriole was still singing at Walnut Woods
