Saw 1st Junco of year in Medina Township, just north of city of Medina
on October 11. By the last week of October, they became a daily viewing as numbers increased.

While visiting someone’s house in Northern Ross County I’ve seen my first Juncos  around here this morning.

Migration for land birds appears to be winding down at these 3 MetroParks
south of Columbus.  I started at 3-Creeks, visiting both Heron Pond and
Confluence areas, then went over to Blacklick Woods and Pickerington
Ponds.   Still lots of leaves on the trees in these areas - maples mostly
down, but hickories still yellow and oaks barely changed.  Water levels at
Pick Ponds are still fairly high, so no shorebirds.   Notables included:

Waterfowl - Pick Ponds had several flocks of N.Shovelers, as well as a few
Green-winged Teal and Ruddy Ducks
Raptors - Red-tails in many places.  Pick Ponds had 3 Turkey Vultures and
the resident Bald Eagles, along with a hunting Cooper's Hawk
Woodpeckers - lots of them at Blacklick Woods, which is having a good
beechnut year
Red-br.Nuthatch - singles were at 3-Creeks 9Confluence area) and Blacklick
Woods
E.Bluebirds - small groups at nearly every stop
Mimids - Mockingbirds at 3-Creeks (Confluence area) and Pick Ponds (Ellis
Pond)
Warblers - only Yellow-rumpeds, and they were widespread but not numerous
anywhere
Sparrows - lots of Songs & White-throateds, but also had Swamp & Fox at
Pick Ponds and Juncos at several locations
Blackbirds - a massive flock of grackles was flying back & forth at
Blacklick Woods, while Pick Ponds had some small groups of Red-winged
Blackbirds
Finches - nothing other than the expected House Finches & Goldfinches.

Generally quiet but I found a silent Catbird at Denison that gave me great views and a Hermit Thrush. Some White-throated Sparrows and a couple Towhees. Flyover of a few Cedar Waxwings.

At the land lab, I picked up a couple N Mockingbirds, Song Sparrows, house finches, and a few Grackles and starlings.

When I left for the reserve in the morning, a group of vultures was hanging out on the roof of one the buildings on the Denison campus, mostly TVs but a couple Black Vultures. Seems mildly comical they are so fond of roosting on campus.
