I had a pleasant afternoon at Killdeer Plains yesterday. There was cloud cover initially but then it was a beautiful late afternoon. Although it wasn't super birdy, I picked up a few new birds for the year & thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Tundra (& Trumpeter) Swans. Canada Geese already nesting.

Tundra Swan FOY--mostly distant but at least 100
Trumpeter Swan
Horned Lark--singing
Tree Sparrows--some large flocks
Song Sparrow
Red-winged Blackbird
N Harrier
Rough-legged Hawk--2 light morphs
Red-tailed Hawk
Bald Eagles, at least 8 with a couple adult pairs near their nests
Am Kestrel
Sandhill Cranes (heard but not seen)
