It's worth mentioning that the Ohio Historical Society is planning the
Ohio Patriotic Records Project, as one of the priority projects of
the Ohio 2003 Plan (2003 being the state Bicentennial).  This effort
will collect both records and manuscripts of soldiers and civilians
during the several wars in American history, with emphasis on the
more recent conflicts.
