ATHG member Jan Noel's book, CANADA DRY: TEMPERANCE CRUSADES BEFORE
CONFEDERATION (University of Toronto Press) has been awarded the Sir John
A. Macdonald Prize of the Canadian Historical Association.  The prize,
which carries an award of $1,000, is presented annually to the non-fiction
work of Canadian history "judged to have made the most significant
contribution to an understanding of the Canadian past."
