I already corrected Chris's mistake by email, but just so no one else gets the wrong idea... *NO*! This is *not* the case. There is absolutely nothing stopping the DHCP server from giving out a perfectly free address to a client, even if that address wasn't perfectly free just 10 seconds ago. Your address is *not* static. Now, with that in mind, if you leave your computer on all the time (and for Open Transport users, if you have "Load only when needed" unchecked in the TCP/IP Control Panel), you're probably going to keep the same IP address. Just don't shut down. Clayton L. Hines UNIX Software Specialist email [log in to unmask] Miami University voice 513.529.7600 Oxford, Ohio, USA fax 513.529.1496
