Does anyone know anything about Algot Niska? His name popped up in
Ann Landers' Feb. 7 column: "Finland also had its own Schindler-type
character. In 1938, Algot Niska, known as an adventurer and liquor
smuggler, was credited with rescuing 150 Jews by making trips into
German-occupied territory and supplying Jews with forged Swedish or
Finnish passports and getting them out of danger."

A quick check of local data bases produced no hits. Is there a good,
reliable source of biographical information on Niska? I'm especially
interested in his liquor smuggling activities.
