I am currently working on a second ed. of THE SILVER BULLET: THE MARTINI
IN AMERICAN CIVILIZATION (Greenwood, 1981), to be  published by Johns
Hopkins University Press.
 
I'd be most grateful for any pre-1910 references to the Martini in
any kind of  source.  (The 1880s  is the probable decade of origin.)
 
In particular, I would like to  locate copies of the bartender's manuals
at the end of this message.  I am not trying to buy them but would
like to be able to borrow them froma library or consult them if they are
in the hands of a private owner.
