These awards acknowledge research of NCA members that has made, or offers the promise of, significant contribution to scholarship in a pplied communication theory, research, and/or practice. Awards will be given in two categories: one to the author(s) of an outstanding article published in a communication or related-discipline journal; the other to the authors(s)/editor(s) of an outstanding scholarly text. Textbooks are not eligible for this award. When warranted, the committee may choose to recognize authored and edited books in two separate categories. Articles and books published with a 1995 or 1996 copyright date are eligible for consideration. Materials previously submitted for these awards are not eligible. To apply, send a letter of nomination or self-nomination to the committee chair below. Include a brief rationale and explanation of the significance of the work to applied communication theory, research, and/or practice. Any published reviews of the work should be included. Four copies of the article or book should also be submitted. The awards will be presented at the business meeting of the Applied Communication Division at the 1997 NCA Convention in Chicago. The award recipients will be invited to participate in a special panel at the 1998 NCA Convention. All nominations and materials must be received by September 12, 1997.
