=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Greetings, fellow ACM chapters! Well, it's October, and you know what that means -- time once again for the ACM student chapter at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to host its annual Reflections|Projections conference on October 17th, 18th, and 19th. This year we've got a whole slew of speakers, with topics ranging from OpenGL programming to N64 development to advanced microprocessor design to the year 2000 problem. Our keynote speaker this year is Steve Dorner, author of Eudora. We're also holding the Mechmania III programming contest, in which ten teams compete to build the AI to take over the universe. And our full-day career fair already has over 30 companies signed up begging for your resume. We're also going to be holding a meeting with representatives of all the attending chapters on Saturday the 18th. The current agenda includes a status report from the chapter representatives, news on current events and projects, and plans for the future. Come to see what other chapters are doing, and make some contacts elsewhere in the organization. If you have any suggestions for specific items, please feel free to mail me. If you and your chapter haven't signed up to attend the conference yet, I'd advise you to hurry. The cost is only $15 per person, which includes a free T-shirt and meals for the weekend. Information on the conference and registration to attend are available at: http://www.acm.uiuc.edu/conference/ A rough schedule is as follows: Fri 17 Career Fair, with over 30 employers Barbecue Mechmania III presentation Movie night Sat 18 Donuts Mechmania III coding OpenGL workshops N64 Development workshop CAVE tours Keynote speaker: Steve Dorner Computer architecture speaker ACM student chapter meeting Y2K speaker Unix System Security workshop Dinner Social event Sun 19 More speakers and workshops Mechmania III tournament If you have any questions, feel free to mail me at [log in to unmask] or call the ACM@UIUC student chapter office at 217.333.5828 .
