There is an extensive underground tunnel system that was used to house speakeasies under the town of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. We visited there last Fall, and a tour of the tunnels is one of the tourist highlights. The tunnels were originally dug by Chinese coolies who had worked on the railroad and were trying to find hidden living quarters to avoid racial persecution and deportation. The tunnels were taken over by the mobs during Prohibition. Al Capone is said to have traveled by train to Moose Jaw to buy Canadian booze for his Chicago operations. Regards, Spence Radnich
