An interesting anecdote came out of a panel discussion I heard at CCCCs last month. One of the presenters was talking about her students. She said she had one student who would be wide awake when he thought the discussion was about style but would tend to drift off when the discussion was about grammar. My question: Can you have a discussion of style without it also being a discussion of grammar (at some, if not at all, levels)? Jim Dubinsky (a question is a question, no matter how small--apologies to Horton)
