I was checking something in my back yard this afternoon when my
chickens started cackling a bit. Then I heard an ANSWER from the
woods. I thought maybe a chicken had gotten out, but when I looked out
over the fence, I was surprised to see a RING-NECKED PHEASANT in a
maple tree. It was the Pheasant that answered the chickens, a new one
on me. It sat in the tree for about twenty minutes, before flying off
into the white pines, and running around on the ground for quite a
while. This was the first Pheasant I've seen here in about 15 years,
and that was one I had released myself. It's a little too wooded for
Pheasant habitat, but I am happy to have it around. Do you think it
has a thing for my chickens?
