I birded the wetlands and adjacent habitat north of Roundhead on property owned by ONU. The diverse habitats there host a similarly diverse array of birds. Best find was a Wilson's Snipe. It was an especially good day for water fowl even on the small ponds. Numbers below are approximate:
1 WILSON'S SNIPE
2 Mute Swans
4 Mallards
50+ Canada Geese (200+ in flyovers)
8 Wood Ducks
50+ Ring-necked Ducks
4 Scaup (I think lessers)
1 BUFFLEHEAD
6 Hooded Mergansers
1 Northern Harrier
2 Red-tailed Hawks
5 Turkey Vultures
25+ Song Sparrows - most males in song or subsong
4 American Tree Sparrows
1 Chipping Sparrow
2 Downy Woodpeckers
1 Red-bellied Woodpecker
8 Carolina Chickadees
25+ Red-winged Blackbirds
10+ Common Grackles
6 American Crows
2 Blue jays
20+ American Robins
2 Killdeers
4 Northern Cardinals
