Today at Guilford Lake, I spotted a Red Shoulder constructing it's nest.
As I was taking it's picture, I saw another one sitting nearby. As I
begain shooting what now I know was the female, the male appeared in the
viewfinder. I thought wow, both in one shot. Well, it happened!! The male
mounted the female to copulate. I took 10-15 shots before he was done.
What a once in a lifetime opportunity to see it but then to get a picture.
What are the chances of that. It was awesome. I plan to monitor it over
the next several weeks for progress on the nest, chicks etc. I will let
everyone know. I will be attaching pics later.
