Forgot to mention that Brad Sparks and I snooped around central Ohio
yesterday, and at Buck Creek SP he spotted a red-necked grebe out on the
lake--still in breeding plumage--among small numbers of goldeneyes,
buffleheads, ruddy ducks, g-w teals, hooded mergs. These birds were at
unsatisfactory distances for true admiration of their plumages, but
still identifiable.
This is a tad early for the grebe, but not remarkably so.
