My thanks to all of the responses to my question about suet. I had a few that gave directions on how to render it. And quite a few that said to chop it up and put it in the feeder as is.
And then I got an email from someone who had a very convincing argument as to why I shouldn't bother...
Normally I wouldn't bother..really I wouldn't..but when the opportunity arises to do a bit of little tyke teaching and exploring "old school" ways of doing things..I take the opportunity. :-) I don't think that I will render it though, I'll do what some others have suggested and just put it out straight. I might buy some rendered fat and make some seed&nut suet blocks just for fun.
So again thanks for all of the replies. Ya'll have been very helpful.
