I was at Hoover Dam in the morning and there was a huge swarm of gulls
at the south end of the reservoir. I estimated 10000 Ring-billed and
100 Herring. I didn't see the kittiwake or Glaucous but did see an
adult Lesser Black-backed and a first-winter Great Black-backed!

It seems to be in adult nonbreeding plumage. It was sitting on the dock that is out in the water. We split up and I headed North. I stopped at the Walnut boat ramp and saw a large white gull. Tracked down my husband and scope and realized we had a Glaucous Gull. Probably a 2nd winter bird. I am sure there are other unusual gulls among the thousands there, I was just too cold to keep looking. Ken stayed behind, so there may be more to report later.
