You mean like: early/late, daily/monthly/weekly/yearly, past/current/
future, previous/subsequent, recent, etc.?

These are the problems with looking at grammar purely through a
semantic lens. You can't reliably categorize things based on their
meanings. It also may be the result of a conflation of category
(e.g., noun, verb, preposition, etc.) and function (e.g., subject,
predicate, modifier, head, etc.). Things become much clearer when you
stop trying to stuff all noun modifiers into the adjective category.

Best,
Brett
