Late this afternoon, Susan Jones and I made a quick trip to Indigo Lake in
the CVNP in hopes of seeing the half dozen Long-tailed Ducks reported there
on Monday. Just north of the lake, near Everett Road on Riveriview Road, we
spotted a large white bird that turned out to be a leucistic Red-tailed
Hawk. Armed with only a point-and-shoot camera, we were able to capture a
couple photos, posted on my blog, www.mywittsend.blogspot.com.
At the lake, the long tails were gone, however three Lesser Scaup remain,
along with a Horned Grebe in alternate plumage.
