Steve Henthorne, Paula and I conducted the 14th August census yesterday.
Beautiful weather but things were very quiet. We had 58 species and 2872
individuals on the census. Both of these numbers are slightly below our 14
year average of 62 species and 3303 individuals. The most unusual sighting
of the census was a Rock Pigeon which is very uncommon on the islands. The
only Brown-headed Cowbird observed was a young bird following a Killdeer
around in a short grass field near the marina. I find it hard to believe a
Killdeer incubated a cowbird egg...
