44 deg. F with light winds.
27 mile loop.
Another chilly day on the road yielded some great new FOS birds.
Highlights included Yellow and Yellow-rumped Warblers, a singing Winter
Wren,
House Finches and lots of brilliant Amer. Goldfinches. Also heard were
several
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, a Baltimore Oriole and a Carolina Wren.
One bird did cause me to stop and get off the bike, though. It was the
plaintive call of a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH.
I listened to it for at least 5 minutes as its sweet song filled the
air. The heavens even celebrated by showering me
with confetti; well actually, it was snow. Go figure. The waterthrush
was a Cuyahoga Count first, so it was worth the chilled toes.
See you on the trails,
Chris Pierce
