At the wetlands just northeast of the Sportman’s Center at Killdeer Plains
around noon Ben Hawes and I saw among the 1500+ Canada Geese the
following:
1 Ross’s Goose
3 Greater White Fronted Geese (1 alone and 2 with snow geese)
4 Snow Geese ( 3 blue and 1 white)
We then went to Funk Bottoms where along Wilderness rd as it started to
get dark we saw:
20+ Snow Geese
4 Ross’s Geese
2 Snow Geese (white) with CAGO, 16+ Snow Geese (14+ blue and 2 white
immature) with CAGO, and when a flock of CAGO took flight from a field
south of Wilderness rd we saw in it a group of white geese, 2 Snows and 4
Ross’s Geese
Also seen along the road were:
1 Short Eared Owl
2 Harriers, 2 Pipits, 1 Horned Lark
