Walking around our fields and forest this morning I took note (mostly
listening to the notes) of this years residents, presumably breeding birds.
Among them are many or most of the usual suite of warblers:
common yellowthroat
yellow warbler
hooded warbler
ovenbird
Louisiana waterthrush
redstart
cerulean warbler
Until the last couple days we had a chat chattering away in the edge
habitat as well. Blue-winged warblers stopped singing some time ago, but
they always do.
I think this makes up the resident warbler list for 2013. Nine isn't bad
for average Appalachian property.
