This evening I found a good roost with about 150 Chimney Swifts west of the Dairy Queen in Hilliard. The location is:
Avery Lodge 493
3980 Main Street
Hilliard, OH
Pull into the alley just before Hilliard Cleaners and park. There is a really nice big open grassy area behind the lodge. This chimney is different than any others I have seen. Because it has a bit of a "roof/ceiling" on it, I had dismissed it and was looking for another chimney. But the circling birds directed my focus to this unusual set-up. It shows yet again how agile Chimney Swifts are.
Children (of all ages!) need to be seeing this at this time of year. Please spread the word. The action happens between 7:45-8:25 these days.
