I went back out to Buckeye Lake this afternoon, to photograph the white goose and try to re-located the “diver”.
There is debate on Facebook as to whether the white goose is a snow, Ross’s or hybrid. I’m no expert. I do know that it doesn’t have a grin patch, and was closer to the size of the mallards with which it was swimming this morning.
As for the “loon”, I’m loonie! What I found was a first-winter double-crested cormorant standing on the ice. Probably what I saw this morning. Sorry for the false alarm.
