Spent a couple of hours at LaDue today looking for the Franklin's Gulls but could not locate them. This bird has eluded us for many, many years in Ohio. Why should I think today would be any different? But we did see a Red-necked Grebe, swimming near the gulls. Other highlights were about 75 Ruddy Ducks, 1 loon, 1 Least Sandpiper, 16 Cedar Waxwings & 1 Yellow-billed Cuckoo that I heard calling from the woods west of Valley Rd. Only heard it call once & I don't think any of the other people nearby heard it but I played the call on a CD to confirm that is what I heard. We had 19 species in all.
