v Blendon Woods Metro Park is located in the northeast corner of Columbus
off of I 270 & Rte 161. Take the Little Turtle Way exit. Below is a list of
the Birds seen the last few days.
Thoreau Lake
American Wigeon-3 males & female
Redhead-11 males, female
Lesser Scaup-pair
Greater Scaup-3 females
Gadwall-3 males- female
American Black Duck-532+
Mallard-49+
Swans-2-
Green-winged Teal-2 pair
Ring-necked Duck-male
Canvasback-female
Red-tailed Hawk
Lake Trail
Red-headed Woodpecker-young-getting Adult plumage
Hairy Woodpecker
Pileated Woodpecker-a pair have been very active in this area
Carolina Wren
E Bluebird
Goldenrod Trail
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Nature Center Bird Viewing area
House Finch-2 males
Dark-eyed Juncos
White-throated Sparrow
American Tree Sparrow
Cooper's Hawk
Turkeys-at the Bird feeders at the Nature Center, East Blind at Thoreau
Lake & at the Bird feeders in the Picnic areas. They are starting to
"Display"
Barred Owls-along the Hickory Ridge Trail, Ripple Rock Trail, & the
first section of the Sugarbush Trail. They are communicating between the
male & female
