About a half-hour ago, I Had just turned onto Moots Run Rd from Rt 37 when I saw a bird fly across the road with black & white wings, too small to be a Pileated (which I see/hear regularly around Granville). As its lovely red head caught the sun, I was delighted to see my FOS Red-headed WP, a beautiful male.
First time I’ve seen this species in the Granville area. I’ve seen them in Columbus and at Wahkeena NP near Lancaster.
Nice surprise.
