I had to work today so could only check my feeders and go for a walk on the bike path late afternoon.
I had my first Pine Siskin this afternoon—a feisty one: fended off a bewildered Chickadee hoping to take its turn at the thistle feeder. The Siskin would lean over the perch & flutter its wings rapidly at the Chickadee while scolding to scare it away. The Chickadee gave up & flew over to the sunflower feeder. Interesting to watch.
On my walk, I had a flock of a dozen or so Siskins fly over fairly high. About 18 TVs were thermalling over Denison. Heard a couple Yellow-rumpeds.
