   Hm... I have a USR Sporster 14.4k modem (the gandalf modems are also
USRs, Hm...) and I connected no problem at 14.4 before break.
Now, I just get connected at 9600.  :(
 
   Are there some nifty init strings I should be using?  Why not just
keep the old factory settings on the new modems, since so many people
seem to be having the same problems with them?????
 
Just wanted to add my $.02...
