physical relocation of the multiuser DEC OpenVMS system, MiaVX1,
from Kreger Hall to Hoyt Hall on Friday, 12 August 1994, between
6am and 5pm.

This move is being undertaken to provide enhanced operational
support for the OpenVMS system and to make space available in the
MCIS Learning Technologies Center in Kreger Hall.

The office of Kent Covert, Software Coordinator, will remain
in Kreger.

The move of the DEC 4000-710 AXP and associated hardware is
scheduled for the early morning hours of Friday, 12 August, with
planned service outage beginning at 6am and ending by 5pm, barring
any unforeseen difficulties.

All MiaVX1 services will be unavailable during this time.

Services on *other* systems affected by the MiaVX1 outage will
include:

     * NNTP USENET NetNews service to other systems, including
the DEC OpenVMS systems on the Hamilton and Middletown
        campuses

        Unavailable during MiaVX1 service outage

     * BITNET sendfile service on all systems at Miami (including
        the IBM VM/CMS system, MiamiU)

        Unavailable during MiaVX1 service outage

     *  BITNET e-mail

E-mail to and from other BITNET nodes will be stored during
the outage for delivery once MiaVX1 service is restored.
(MiaVX1 is Miami University's link to the rest of BITNET.)

Additional details and reminders will be provided as the move
date nears. Please post any questions to mu.vms / MU-VMS or send
e-mail to myself or Kent Covert <[log in to unmask]>.
