Unless you're connecting to or from the MiaVX1 cluster, I don't believe the
maintenance on MiaVX1 is to blame. I've gotten a couple of reports from
people noting slowdowns starting this weekend. I haven't been able to
quantify them, though.
We need some additional information in order to research this. For
example, are you coming through PPP or an ethernet connection? What sites
are you connecting to? What application are you using (FTP, WWW, etc.)?
In addition, you might try using the TRACEROUTE command on MiaVX1. It will
show the time it takes through each router between you and the remote
system. For example,
$ traceroute www.uc.edu
traceroute to blues.fd1.uc.edu (129.137.244.7), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
1 HYTROU135-1.muohio.edu (134.53.253.245) 2 ms 1 ms 1 ms
2 MU-OARNET1.muohio.edu (134.53.253.253) 5 ms 4 ms 2 ms
3 sot5-sl11-0.columbus.oar.net (199.18.103.189) 20 ms 21 ms 18 ms
4 clp1-atm1-0.cincinnati.oar.net (199.18.202.91) 17 ms 11 ms 12 ms
5 hpb-e93-oarnet.uc.edu (129.137.180.17) 14 ms 13 ms 13 ms
6 blues.fd1.uc.edu (129.137.244.7) 14 ms 34 ms 16 ms
