Miami University's DEC OpenVMS system in Oxford (MiaVX1) will be unavailable tomorrow, Saturday, 1 April 1995, from 6am until 12 noon, for installation of additional hardware (disk drives) by MCIS Technical Services. All services hosted on MiaVX1 will be unavailable during this period, including: * any and all applications normally used on MiaVX1 Mail, News, etc. * BITNET mail, interactive messages and "send file" capability MiaVX1 serves as Miami University's entry and departure point for all BITNET services, which will thus be unavailable. Incoming mail and files will be queued at the remote site and will be delivered after MiaVX1 returns to service. * Many (if not most) of Miami University World Wide Web (WWW) server data This includes individual as well as organizational "home pages" served from MiaVX1. All Uniform Resource Locators (URLs) pointing to http://MiaVX1.MUOhio.Edu/ or http://WWW.MUOhio.Edu/ will be inaccessible. * Miami University's NetNews server In addition to NetNews on MiaVX1 itself, any NetNews clients served by the campus NetNews server (NNTP.MUOhio.Edu) will be unable to access NetNews. This includes users of the DEC OpenVMS systems in Hamilton (MiaVX2 et al.) and Middletown (MiaVX3 et al.). * VAXshare services to networked Macintosh computers * Miami University's Help Desk server The Target tracking system for MCIS Help Desk problems will be unavailable.
