It's a 5th generation DECChip (the current Alpha is a 4th generation, the VAXes were 3rd generation and before, etc). Here are some of the stats: System Name: SEA (the current Alpha is called OCEAN) Clock Rate: 250 Mhz (OCEAN is 190 MHz) Simultaneous Instructions: 4 (OCEAN does 2 simultaneously) Max. Instructions/second: 1 billion (1 BIP or 1000 MIPS) SpecInt92: 277.1 (OCEAN is 122.4) Specfp92: 410.4 (OCEAN is 185.4) Memory: 512 MB System Bus: 667 MB/sec Expansions Buses: PCI/EISA SEA will become the main interactive system. OCEAN will be used primarily for batch and background tasks. In addition, we will be adding 256 MB of memory to the OCEAN. This will bring it's total to 512 MB of memory. There will also be a FDDI (fiber optic) network between the 2 systems to handle the increased network traffic expected with this configuration. -- Kent Covert, Software Coordinator Miami Computing and Information Services Miami University, Oxford, OH [log in to unmask]
