Question.. I normally use a 14.4 connection for the VAX, but I have had to use a 2400/V42BIS connection lately, and I noticed a strange bug with news. My display size is 97x39, and my subscribed newsgroup list extends over a page, so I usually 'skip' several of them which causes the whole list display to refresh. Knowing what I usually do, I typically end up having several complete refreshes queued, and after a couple seconds on a 14.4 line, this takes no time. However, now at 2400, the several screens are probably getting stuffed into either a) some output display buffer on the VAX or b) the modem's output buffer Ok, I think I'd usually just see a loss of some characters either instantly as the buffer loops around in it's space, or I'd lose characters at the end which would look like the last paragraph or whatever wouldn't show up. But instead, News freezes, and I either have to use a Ctrl-C/Y, or even send a break and then Ctrl-C/Y. [INTERRUPT] goes, and I lose the messages I've read. I can avoid the problem by waiting for each screen to finish, or at least limit the amount of type-ahead that I do that causes the refresh problem above. So my question is, is this a VAX problem that I could fix with just a command to adjust some buffer or is it technical to the modem and I can't do anything about it, OR is it a bug in news that appeared in this situation? thanks for any info..
