Martha-

I remembered it was an ATEG book just after I left the computer for the
afternoon. Ah, well, what can I say? Mind like a steel sieve, mine.
Anyhow, it really helped me to understand the modern contextual arguments
and ways to blend grammar with writing instruction in good ways, I found it
readable and, perhaps the best compliment of all, useful.

Thanks to everyone involved in it!

Hi Patty,

"Grammar Alive," I'm proud to say, is the product of ATEG, published by NCTE
in 2003, with Brock Haussamen as lead author--and many ATEG contributors.
I'm glad you found it wonderful!

Martha

I'm in the process (once again) of re-organizing my library, so I don't have
a lot of bibliographic information, but when I read your post, Tony, my
first thought was "Grammar Alive!", a text my English-grammar-for-teachers
instructor used that I thought was wonderful. Anyone have a copy handy?

I will be teaching a summer class which is both an introduction to
linguistics and an introduction to English grammar for teachers. Are there
are texts which group members have found worthwhile? Thank you, Tony DeFazio
