I recall discussions involving legal writing on this list, so maybe someone
can help me w/ a question I've received.  Does anyone understand what the
word "Os"(or possibly "os") means in this sentence?  Dictionaries haven't
been of much help; there is a very old use of the term as a noun to refer
to excommunication, and a medical "os" refers to a bone.
 
Anyone have a clue?
