Yes, Morenberg's latest edition, the seventh, is called The Writer's
Options: Lessons in Style and Arrangement, co-authored by Jeff Sommers,
published by Longman. Their website is alongman.com
If you need some scholarship on sentence-combining, let me know, and
I'll send it along.
I'd did an article several years ago in the Journal of Technical Writing
and Communication, called "The Million Dollar Letter,"
detailing the use of verbals to write effective application letters. I'd
be happy to send that, too, if you're interested.
The nexus of linguistics and writing is probably my scholarly focus, if
I have one.
