You might also want to check on Newburgh Airport. It's a bit farther north  
than White Plains, just south of Kingston and New Paltz. I don't know what kind 
 of transportation arrangements are available from there although I'm sure 
there  are car rentals. It may be somewhat less expensive than flying into JFK.
