Here's my take:

A. "human beings in burning fossil fuels" would be a horrific thing to
behold.

B. would need to drop the "that" for it to be correct

C. for me, this one is the winner

D. change to, "which most scientists agree is a phenomenon . . . ."

E. change to, "which most scientists agree is . . . ."
