Assistant Professor of Rhetoric & Composition
Responsibilities: Teaches 12 credit hours per semester to include graduate
and undergraduate rhetoric and composition courses as well as freshman
writing courses; advises students; conducts research; serves on
departmental,
college, and/or university committees; writes proposals for public and
private grants; performs other related duties as assigned. This is a
full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor position.
Qualifications: Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related
field from an accredited institution required. A minimum of three (3) years
of college/university teaching experience required. Strong background
in composition
studies, linguistics, and/or writing across the curriculum. Evidence of
strong research capability and a strong, peer-reviewed, scholarly
publication record in composition studies or a related area; demonstrated
ability to
effectively teach undergraduate and graduate courses in composition and
rhetoric; knowledge and experience developing and evaluating undergraduate
and graduate courses in rhetoric and composition including developmental
writing; demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching,
research/scholarship, university and community service; excellent
communication skills; commitment to the mission of the university;
digital information
technology skills a plus, including Blackboard; bilingualism in modern
languages is also a plus.
