Hi Folks -
A couple of colleagues and I are doing a presentation at NCTE, and since
other ATEG members might be interested, I've clipped the program
description below. It's grammar from a Systemic perspective, but we're
trying to keep it as broadly applicable as possible.
I find the NCTE program a bit overwhelming (my town's phone book is
smaller), and I suspect not everything about grammar shows up in
presentations marked as "grammar" presentations, so I'd appreciate any
info about other grammar-related sections at the conference.

F.30 LINKING GRAMMATICAL CHOICES TO
MEANINGS IN TEXTS (M-S-C)
Javits Convention Center/1E18, Level 1
Sponsored by the North American Systemic Functional
Linguistics Association, open to all
These presenters will describe three ways in which to
integrate the teaching of grammar with reading and writing.
Working with the language of real texts, they will demonstrate
activities that explore ways in which specific
grammatical choices contribute to the meanings of those
texts. Handouts will be provided that will encourage
further exploration at home.
