I'm not sure I'm sending this the correct way, but here goes.

I have two questions:

1. This came up in a class yesterday--when a sentence begins with a
coordinating conjunction, e.g., but, is it still considered a coordinating
conjunction?

2. What do you think is the best textbook for an upper division grammar
class for future teachers--considering what they'll actually have to teach
in junior high or high school?

Thanks, Sandie
